Insecticidal and Antifeedant Activities and Chemical Composition of Casimiroa Edulis La Llave & Lex (Rutaceae) Leaf Extract and its Fractions Against Spodoptera Littoralis Larvae

چکیده
Insecticidal and antifeedant activities of acetone extract of Casimiroa edulis (Rutaceae) leaf were screened against 4 instar larvae of Spodoptera littoralis. Crude extract had LC50 value of 79.47μg/cm and SC50 of 88.97 μg/cm. Seven fractions were then collected from the extract by silica gel column chromatography (eluted by different solvent systems). Four of these fractions recorded percent sterility more than 50, in addition to, the crude extract, which gave 82.86% sterility at the LC50. Phytochemical analysis for crude extract and five active fractions composition were determined by GC/MS. 32 compounds were identified in the crude extract, dominated by sesquiterpene hydrocarbon, predominantly βeta caryophyllene (28.98% area), germacrene (7.73% area), in addition to sclerodione (17.63% area).Fatty acid esters with total area of 11.57% were also present. The chemical composition of the active fractions was identified. The results suggest that the acetone extract of C. edulis leaves and some of its fractions are of promising insecticidsl and antifeedant activity

Aqueous and organic (hexane, chloroform, and methanol) extracts of siliquae, stems and leaves, and seeds of Cleome arabica L. (Brassicales: Capparidaceae) were evaluated in the laboratory for their antifeeding and insecticidal effect on larvae of the cotton leafworm, Spodoptera littoralis (Boisduval) (Lepidoptera, Noctuidae), using a leaf dipping bioassay with castor bean, Ricinus communis L. Purpose: the non-edible fruit parts of Casimiroa edulis Llave et were evaluated for their active constituents and their potential as antioxidants, anti-inflammatory and antitumor activity. Methods: Fruits peel (FP) and seeds kernel (SK) of Casimiroa edulis Llave et Lex. were extracted successively with hexane and then methanol. Fatty acids were prepared from hexane extracts and identified by GC...

A crude acetone extract and oil of ripe fruits from Melia azedarach L. were evaluated against the 2nd and 4th instar larvae of Spodoptera littoralis (Boisd.) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). Both oil and extract exhibited highly significant growth inhibition at all concentrations tested, while the oil of M. azedarach recorded higher insecticidal activity against both instars than the crude extract. GC...
متن کاملShort communication. The antifeedant activity of natural plant products towards the larvae of Spodoptera littoralis
Worms are becoming difficult pests to control since many insecticides are now forbidden and the present alternatives are insufficiently effective. Antifeedants of plant origin may have potential against such pests. In this work, several diterpenoids, flavones and coumarins extracted from plants were assayed as antifeedant agents against Spodoptera littoralis larvae. Among these compounds, four ...

To validate the potential as added-value resources of Asteraceae and Labiatae species of Argentinean semi-arid lands, we have selected 13 of their major terpenoids belonging to several chemical classes and tested their insect antifeedant and toxic activity on the herbivorous insects Spodoptera littoralis and Leptinotarsa decemlineata. The antifeedant effects of the test compounds were structure...
